Statue of Unity Cost

Built at a cost of around Rs 3,000 crore, the historic statue was designed by 94-year-old sculptor Ram V. Sutar from Maharashtra and built by Mumbai-based Larsen & Toubro Company.

About Rs 2,989 crore was spent on making this statue of Sardar Patel. According to the company, except the partial work of coating the bronze, the rest of the construction has been done in the country itself.

Statue of Unity in India

About 3000 rupees have been spent in the construction of this statue. The foundation stone of the Statue of Unity was laid on 31 October 2013, the 138th anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, when PM Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat.

5700 metric tons i.e. about 57 lakh kilograms of structural steel has been used to make the Statue of Unity. Along with this, 18500 metric tons of rods have also been installed in it. 2 crore 25 lakh kg of cement has been used to make the idol.

Its construction took 33 months and the statue was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on 31 October 2018 on the 143rd anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

A lift has also been installed in this idol. This lift goes to the upper part of the Statue of Unity and from there the view of Narmada River can be seen.
